Bump, Week 19

The kicks are getting stronger and more frequent, and I'm loving it!

BabyCenter.com has this image of what babies look like at 19 weeks gestation. Looks like the little pup is running out of room!

The only "interesting" news I can think to share from the last week -- and it's really not that interesting -- is that after almost 20 weeks of no sickness whatsoever, I got food poisoning this weekend! Our church gave out date night kits on Saturday with lots of coupons, date ideas, fun questions to ask each other on your date, and other neat stuff, so we decided to take that kit to our favorite restaurant. When we got there, we found that they have a new chef, the menu is twice as expensive, and the food is about half as tasty as it used to be!

Now I should mention, I got food poisoning from this restaurant once before. I know, I know, I'm like a dog returning to its... umm, vomit. But the first time I got sick, I sent an email to the restaurant to let them know something on my dish must have been contaminated, and they truly made it right. I got emails from the chef and the management and a personal call from the chef. He assured me they discarded anything that may have been the culprit and offered to buy my meal the next time I came in (which they did AND MORE at a later date). They were totally exonerated, in my mind.

So yeah, Saturday night was not fun. You better believe I Googled "food poisoning while pregnant" and read a gajillion pages to make sure Baby G was okay. Turns out I probably have nothing to worry about (and I'm still feeling kicks, so that's reassuring).

Guess everything was just going too smoothly for me! ;)

One week from today we'll find out the sex of Baby G. Don't forget to vote in the poll in the right-hand column if you haven't already! Looks like Team Pink is winning.

Boy or Girl?

After today's heartbeat post, I thought I'd see what you think about Baby G's gender. Will the years bring us ballet slippers or football gear? Bills for a wedding or a rehearsal dinner? I added a poll to the right column of the blog. Submit your vote now!

Our "Boy" Turned Into a "Girl"

I had a super quick appointment with Dr. Norwood today to hear the baby's heartbeat again. (Click here for the last heartbeat post. It was 130 last time.) I say "super quick" because there was nothing to do but have a quick check on Baby G's ticker and then they sent me on my way! I was in the exam room for all of four minutes.

Dr. Norwood found the heartbeat RIGHT away and counted 160 beats per minute. He (jokingly) said, "Sounds like a baby girl to me!" to which I replied, "Oh that's funny, it was a baby boy last time!" The old wives' tale is that if it's over 150 bpm it's a girl, under that it's a boy. So Dr. Norwood joked back, "Uh oh, guess the penis fell off!" Haha!

Anyway, click on the player below to hear our strong baby's heart just pounding away!

Bump, Week 18

I popped!

(Forgive the fact that I look like death in this picture. We got back from vacation at midnight after an entire day of travel, so hair/makeup are not top priorities right now.)

It's still a small bump, but 10 days in Costa Rica was good for Baby G, who is now (at least) the size of a bell pepper from head to rump. The past two-and-a-half weeks have brought lots of prenatal progress, including plenty of kicks, flicks and growth. I am loving each movement and look forward to feeling them more consistently. Every now and then, if I'm lying with my hands on my tummy, the baby kicks so hard it moves my hand!

Brad suspects I'm a week or so ahead of my current working due date(s) (July 22/25), for reasons I'm not entirely sure of, but the Babe G does seem to be ahead of the usual milestones via BabyCenter.com. Things like me feeling kicks, the baby sucking his/her thumb on ultrasound, ears moving to the sides of the head, etc. all seem to have happened a little "ahead of schedule."

I'm still telling myself the baby won't be here until late July, if for no other reason than to protect my sanity in case the little G decides to show up late to the party.

Progress!

Bump, Week 16

Is it just my imagination, or does the bump actually look smaller than it did last week? Medical mystery...

Bump, Week 15

I'd say I'm firmly in the "did she just eat a really big lunch?" stage.
